Local sustainable and inclusive development is a topic of paramount importance for citizens, public authorities and other economic actors across the world. The European Union – through it’s cohesion policy – has been dedicating almost 30% of its budget to the implementation of sustainable and inclusive local development for the past 30 years, and will continue to do so in the future. Civic crowdfunding can and should play a stronger role in democratizing funding for local projects within the scope of the cohesion policy.
